Determining Optimal Levels of Pruning in Hylocereus undatus [(Haw.) Britton and Rose] in Trellis Systems

The main objective of this work was to determine the optimum level pruning in pitaya. In addition, we want establish relationship between levels and intensity flowering, flowering heavy flower bud drop that affects species. With these aims, two experiments were performed on Hylocereus undatus [(Haw.) Britton Rose] cultivated greenhouses trained a trellis system. Our results conclude cane leaving 15 cladodes per meter system is most productive, as it yielded more fruit similar weight. Positive relationships setting, regardless levels, justify less severe pruning. Fruit set size did not depend although found weight reduction when single cladode developed than one fruit. Flower buds proportionally higher forming flowers, suggesting competition plays role their drop. However, thinning seems unnecessary, if be chosen, better select those formed at apex since they produce larger fruits.
